Austin Energy is launching a Small Business Bundle program that offers increased financial assistance to help qualifying small businesses and nonprofits invest in energy efficiency improvements.
The program targets establishments across Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Leander, Lakeway and Bee Cave. Participants who bundle three or more upgrades can access substantially higher incentives that often cover most or all project costs.
The incentive structure combines a 30% bonus on top of Austin Energy's recent 30% increase to standard commercial rebates. This layered approach aims to reduce the upfront investment required for facility improvements.
What improvements qualify
Eligible upgrades include HVAC tune-ups, LED lighting installation and smart thermostat systems. Each offers specific operational benefits. LED lighting improves illumination quality while reducing energy consumption and heat generation. Smart thermostats enhance heating and cooling efficiency through automated controls and remote management. Regular HVAC maintenance extends system lifespan and restores lost operating efficiency.
How the program works
Interested businesses receive a complimentary energy assessment to evaluate their facilities. Participants can customize which upgrades suit their needs. Austin Energy has vetted contractors who handle the rebate application process on behalf of participating businesses.
For businesses needing additional financing, Austin Energy has partnered with Velocity Credit Union to offer low- to no-interest loans covering any remaining project costs after rebates are applied.
Long-term savings
Program materials indicate that businesses can expect reduced upfront expenses for major equipment replacements. Beyond the rebate assistance, participants may realize ongoing savings through lower maintenance costs, fewer repairs and decreased monthly utility bills over time.
