A new East Austin housing community will begin welcoming residents in early September after adding 60 furnished apartments for people moving out of homelessness.
Seabrook Square II, at 2210 Pershing Drive in District 1, provides permanent supportive housing alongside services intended to help residents remain securely housed.
The City of Austin says the development includes 24-hour staff, case management, food resources, computers, laundry facilities, community areas and outdoor green space with a dog walk. Residents will also be about one mile from an Integral Care health center.
What permanent supportive housing means
Permanent supportive housing combines a long-term home with access to services. It is designed for people who have experienced homelessness and may need continuing help with health, benefits or day-to-day stability.
The 60 apartments are supported by local housing vouchers, according to the city. The announcement does not describe Seabrook Square II as a general waiting-list development or provide a public application route, so people seeking housing assistance should use the City of Austin's official housing and homelessness services rather than approaching the site directly.
How the East Austin project was funded
The city says Seabrook Square II received $7.9 million from Austin's 2022 general-obligation housing bonds. Travis County contributed $10,684,557 and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas provided $850,000.
The site sits next to Seabrook Square I, a 204-home affordable housing development that opened in July 2026. Together, the two developments add both income-restricted apartments and permanent supportive housing at the Pershing Drive location.
Supportive housing projects can affect more than their immediate residents. Stable housing can make it easier for people to keep medical appointments, manage benefits and build routines, while on-site staff can connect residents with help before a problem becomes a crisis.
The city has not given an exact first move-in date beyond early September. Residents should also note that the funding figures describe capital contributions and housing support; they should not be added together and treated as a simple cost per apartment because they cover different parts of the project.
